Mediation · In person or by video

Less me vs. you. More us vs. the problem.

I'm a mediator with a background in design and facilitation. When a conversation gets stuck, I help everyone slow down, really listen, and sketch out what could come next together.

About

A designer's approach to hard conversations.

Before mediation, I worked in industrial design and user experience research & design, led empathy trainings, and helped build communities. In all of that work the job was the same: listen closely, understand what people actually need, and help the group see opportunities it couldn't see alone.

I bring that practice to mediation. Conversations usually stall when people are guarding positions. Once we take a step back to the needs underneath, we almost always discover more ways to navigate, collaborate, and create. I don't take sides or hand down answers. I guide the conversation and help you design what comes next.

  • Curious. I listen for what matters to everyone, not for who's right or loudest.
  • Confidential. What's shared in our sessions stays between us.
  • Voluntary. You set the pace and anyone can pause/stop at any time.

Services

Where I can help

Any time people who share something — a family, a team, a business, a street — need to find a way forward.

  • Families in transition

Life struggles, separating/divorcing, co-parenting, or caring for an aging parent. Planning the next chapter so it works for everyone involved.

  • Teams & workplaces

Friction between colleagues or across teams. Clearing the air, leading retrospectives, and finding ways to agree on how you'll work together moving forward.

  • Partners & co-founders

Shifting roles, a change in direction, or one partner stepping away. Deciding the next step while protecting the relationship and the work.

  • Neighbors & communities

Shared spaces, local groups, and community projects. Helping people who live or organize side by side move forward together.

Process

It works like a design sprint

First we understand the situation. Then we open up options, narrow them down, and try one. You'll always know which step we're on.

  1. Intro call

A free 20-minute chat about what's going on and whether working together feels right.

  2. Planned listening session

We start as a group and you share your story, what the conflict is from your perspective. Then we break off into 1:1 sessions called caucuses so that I can hear each person on their own in private.

  3. Map & explore

Together, in person or on video, I share back what I heard. If we are ready, we lay out everyone's needs and see if we can come up with options before judging any of them. Sometimes we go back into caucus (1:1 meetings) if there are things that still need to be shared and brought to the table.

  4. Shape & try

We write down a plan in plain language and treat it as a roadmap for moving forward. We can adjust it together so it works for you. Bad maps lead you in circles. We'll build a better one together.
